Authorities in Abu Dhabi have confirmed the safety of Perrier water products sold in local markets. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) stated that stringent measures are in place to ensure food product safety in circulation, including imported items.

This assurance follows increased monitoring by Nestle, the parent company of Perrier, after concerns were raised by French regulators regarding the quality of its bottled mineral water brands.

Earlier, Nestle announced stepped-up monitoring in response to warnings from French regulators about the quality of its bottled mineral water brands, which also included Perrier.

The move came after revelations that France's food safety watchdog had recommended stricter monitoring of sites where Nestle extracts mineral water after discovering traces of 'faecal' contamination. The recommendation, made to the health ministry last year, is part of an investigation by prosecutors into allegations that Nestle used illegal treatment to purify its mineral waters.

The Abu Dhabi authority emphasized its commitment to maintaining the quality of food products in local markets. It stated that every food product undergoes inspection and sampling at sales centres to ensure it is fit for consumption. The authority also highlighted the importance of consumer confidence in the food quality sold in local markets, whether locally produced or imported from abroad.
