Based in Mumbai, Bhatia will focus on driving visitor growth, trade partnerships and promoting RAK as a year-round destination for Indian travellers, including the lucrative destination wedding segment.
RAK Tourism Development Authority has announced the appointment of Vishal Bhatia as its India Market Director, marking a move to deepen the Emirates' presence in one of its most significant international markets. The appointment comes as RAK looks to consolidate its position among Indian travellers seeking authentic, family-friendly experiences and unique event destinations.
With more than two decades of travel and tourism experience, Bhatia has a strong track record of developing market strategies and building partnerships across India. Before joining RAKTDA, Bhatia served as Country Manager at VisitBritain, leading integrated campaigns and B2B collaborations and driving sustainable growth. Commenting on the appointment, Iyad Rasbey, Vice President of the Destination Tourism Department at RAKTDA, said, "Vishal's appointment comes at a pivotal time as we continue to see strong growth from India.
With his deep understanding of the market and relevant expertise, he will support our efforts to enhance RAK's appeal among Indian travellers as a year-round destination. He will also play a key role in tapping into the destination wedding segment, which continues to show promising potential for the Emirate."
Mirroring his new role, Vishal Bhatia said, "Joining RAKTDA presents a meaningful opportunity to build on the growing interest Ras Al Khaimah is receiving from India. I will focus on strategising trade and consumer engagement, increasing awareness across key cities, and unlocking opportunities across diverse segments.
