Overstaying a visit in the UAE, coupled with absconding, can result in fines of Dh50 per day, irrespective of whether one holds a residence or visit visa. Hence, the agencies advise the traveller to return on time to avoid such charges.
If you stay beyond the allowed period in the Emirates, settling any fines incurred promptly is crucial. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do so:
- Begin by navigating the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security website. Once there, locate and click on the 'Fines and Leave Permits' option on the homepage.
- You'll then be redirected to another page. Look for the 'Fines - Pay Fines - Violations of Entry Permissions or Residences - Pay New Fine' box, and click 'Start Service'.
- Depending on whether you were on a residence visa or not, fill out the necessary fields that appear on the page. If you weren't on a residence visa, select 'citizens of certain countries' and proceed to fill out the required information.
- After completing the form, click 'Verify Applicant' and proceed to the next step.
- Review all the details of your application carefully. Once you're satisfied that everything is correct, confirm your submission.
- Finally, you'll be directed to a payment page where you can settle the acceptable amount. After completing the payment, you'll receive confirmation of the transaction.
