Georgia Sees 40% Growth In Indian Arrivals In 2025

Georgia has emerged as one of the fastest-growing destinations for Indian travellers, with a 40 per cent rise in arrivals in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Strong cultural ties simplified visa processes, direct air connectivity, and increasing film tourism have boosted its appeal. Roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai further underlined Georgia's intent to deepen collaborations with India's travel trade.

Georgia is rapidly strengthening its presence as a preferred destination for Indian travellers, driven by rising arrivals, simplified travel access and strong cultural links. In 2024, the country welcomed 124,000 visitors from India. In the first six months of 2025 alone, arrivals grew by 40 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to India, said, "We are positioning ourselves more and more on the world tourism map. Georgia has its own distinct place, brand, and signature. What makes me proud is that the number of visitors from India is constantly increasing, making India one of our fastest-growing and most valued markets."

Earlier this year, roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai organised by the Georgian National Tourism Administration and its India representative, Think Strawberries, drew participation from over 100 leading travel agents and lifestyle influencers. Supported by Georgian stakeholders, including Kazin DMC Travel Bee LLC and Georgian Holidays, the roadshows showcased a diverse range of offerings and created new opportunities for collaboration.

Visa facilitation and direct air connectivity have been key drivers of growth. Georgia offers an efficient e-visa process, while Indian travellers with visas for the Schengen, US, UK, or Australian countries can enter visa-free. IndiGo Airlines currently operates daily flights from Delhi and thrice weekly flights to Mumbai, complemented by Gulf carrier options.

Cultural and educational exchanges further strengthen bilateral ties. Over 21,000 Indian students are pursuing studies in Georgia, while Indian films and cricket enjoy strong popularity among the Georgian population. Georgia's new brand film for India, Yeh Dil Phir Jeena Laga, was launched this year to highlight its landscapes and cultural richness, resonating strongly with the Indian audience.

Georgia has also become a growing hub for Indian filmmakers, with productions such as Special Ops Season 2, Billa II and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy filmed in the country. Alongside its cinematic appeal, Georgia's focus on sustainable tourism, natural parks and safe travel conditions further adds to its attractiveness.

Ambassador Jaoshvili concluded that Indian travellers are drawn to Georgia not only for leisure but also for weddings, business events, and adventure activities, noting that the country's hospitality leaves visitors with "a sense of belonging and authenticity."
