Jamaica's tourism sector has marked a milestone, recording its strongest July performance to date alongside the launch of a significant resort development.
The island invited 286,548 stopover visitors in July 2025, reflecting a 16.5 per cent increase compared with July 2024 and a 4.8 per cent rise over July 2023.
Minister of Tourism Hon Edmund Bartlett said, "These exceptional numbers reflect Jamaica's position as the Caribbean's most sought-after destination. The growth showcases the strength of our destination assurance programme and the effectiveness of our marketing strategies."
Director of Tourism Donovan White noted that the growth is prominent beyond the figures. He said, "This growth represents not just numbers but families choosing Jamaica for their vacations, business travellers discovering our facilities and repeat visitors returning for our hospitality and natural beauty."
In parallel with this visit, Surge Jamaica has broken ground on Moon Palace, The Grand, a USD $700 million luxury resort in St. James, Success. The project will add 1200 rooms to the island's inventory and is expected to catalyse economic activity.
The development will feature overwater bungalows, more than 13 speciality restaurants, a waterpark and Jamaica's largest spa. Minister Bartlett emphasised that the resort aligns with the government's strategy for inclusive tourism, ensuring that surrounding communities gain employment and other benefits from the expansion.
With record visit arrivals and prominent investment underway, Jamaica is reinforcing its reputation as a premier destination. The combination of rising demand and new luxury offerings positions the island to deliver an enhanced travel experience while contributing to sustained growth for the broader economy.
