Goa officially started its 2025–26 tourism season with the arrival of the first international charter flight from Almaty, Kazakhstan. The SCAT Airlines flight landed early in the morning at Dabolim Airport, marking an important step in reviving Goa's international tourism.
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte said the flight shows Goa's growing global appeal and better air connectivity. He added that the state government plans to expand charter flight routes and attract visitors from new markets while focusing on sustainable tourism.
Tourism Director Kedar Naik highlighted that each charter flight strengthens Goa's image as a leading leisure destination. He thanked travel partners for their support and noted the importance of smooth coordination at Dabolim and Mopa airports.
To celebrate the occasion, the Department of Tourism and travel associations organised a warm welcome for passengers. Guests were greeted with flower garlands, live music, and a cake-cutting ceremony.
The arrival also contributes to Goa's "Goa Beyond Beaches" goal. The goal is to encourage cultural, wellness, and rural tourism beyond the famed coastline. According to officials, more international charter flights are expected soon, leading a step forward to a busy and successful tourist season.
This milestone is a positive sign for Goa's tourism economy, as charter arrivals help bring higher-spending tourists and support local businesses across hospitality, transport, and cultural sectors.
