LOT Polish Airlines, Poland's national airline, is scheduled to expand its network into Central Asia. The plan is to launch direct service between Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) and Almaty International Airport (ALA) in Kazakhstan on May 31, 2026.
During the summer schedule, the airline plans to fly four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, while the frequency will be reduced to three weekly flights in the winter. The outbound flight will depart Warsaw at 22:40 hrs, arriving in Almaty the following morning at around 08:00 hrs, while the return leg will depart Almaty at roughly 09:20 hrs. The flight time is approximately 6.5 hours from Warsaw to Almaty, with a slightly longer journey on the return leg.
Almaty becomes LOT's second destination in Kazakhstan, following its existing service to Astana. The move underscores the airline's strategy to deepen its footprint in the Eurasian region, combining business travel demand, tourism appeal and connecting traffic via its Warsaw hub.
The city of Almaty, nestled at the foot of the Trans-Ili Alatau (Tian Shan) Mountains, is known for its scenic surroundings, vibrant cultural scene, winter-sports resorts and its role as an economic gateway into Central Asia.
With this addition, LOT expects to offer enhanced options for travellers between Europe and Central Asia, tapping into growing trade links and tourism interest. The schedule is designed to appeal to both leisure visitors drawn by Almaty's natural attractions and cultural experiences and business travellers looking for efficient connections via Warsaw.
