Marriott Launched The First Autograph Collection Hotel In South Africa

Marriott International has launched its first Autograph Collection property in South Asia with the opening of The Soaltee Kathmandu. The 285-key hotel blends Nepal's cultural heritage with contemporary design, marking Marriott's 19th brand in the region. In Kathmandu's Tahachal area, the hotel offers curated local experiences, expansive event spaces and a focus on sustainable operations.

Marriott International has announced the debut of Autograph Collection Hotels in South Asia with the opening of The Soaltee Kathmandu Autograph Collection. The launch brings Marriott Nonvoy's brand count in the region to 19, expanding its presence in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Located in the historic Tahachal area of Kathmandu, the 285-key property offers panoramic views of the Himalayas and the Swoyambhunath Stupa. It incorporates traditional Nepalese design elements such as carved wooden jaalis, Thangka paintings, exposed brick interiors, and modern amenities. Established in 1966, The Soaltee has long been a landmark in Nepal's hospitality sector.

Each room and suite has been designed to reflect the Autograph Collection's focus on individuality and local narrative. A signature feature of the property is "The Storyteller," a curated installation in the public areas that showcases the hotel's past and present through guest contributions and historical artefacts.

Dining options include the Golden Terrace for local and international cuisine, Awadhi specialities at Kakori, Chinese dishes at Bao Xuan and open air at Patio. Guests can also relax at Rodi Bar and the Sports Lounge. The property houses a spa offering traditional and modern therapies, an outdoor pool, a tennis court and a 24-hour fitness centre.

The fitness centre has over 25,000 sq ft of banqueting space, and the hotel caters to weddings and significant events. Sustainable practices include in-house water bottling, an herb garden, and energy-efficient systems.
