Luxor Temple, located on the east bank of the Nile River in the city of Luxor (ancient Thebes), is one of Egypt’s most magnificent and well-preserved ancient monuments. Built primarily during the New Kingdom (around 1400 BCE), the temple was dedicated to the divine concept of kingship and the rejuvenation of royal power rather than to a single god. Its principal deities were Amun-Ra, his consort Mut, and their son Khonsu—together forming the Theban Triad.
The temple was begun by Amenhotep III and later expanded by great pharaohs including Tutankhamun, Horemheb, and Ramesses II, who added the grand entrance pylon and the towering statues of himself that still stand today. At the front once stood a pair of obelisks; today, only one remains, with its twin now in Paris.
Inside, visitors pass through monumental courts, massive columns decorated with hieroglyphs, and sanctuaries used in rituals. The temple played a central role in the Opet Festival, during which statues of the gods were transported from Karnak to Luxor to renew the king’s divine authority.
Luxor Temple is unique for its layered history: a Roman chapel, Christian frescoes, and a still-standing mosque (Abu al-Haggag Mosque) were all built within its complex, illustrating its continuous use over thousands of years.

No Changes Allowed: Bookings are final and cannot be modified. This includes changes to the date, time, or number of participants.
No-Shows: Failure to attend the activity at the scheduled time and location will result in the forfeiture of the booking without any refund or credit.
Service Provider and BMB Cancellations: If an activity or transfer (whether it’s a private or shared transfer booked as part of a bundled service) is cancelled by the service provider or BookMyBooking.com, or due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather conditions, safety concerns or any avoidable things), we will offer an alternative date or activity of equal value. If no suitable alternative is available, a credit voucher may be issued at the discretion of BookMyBooking.com.
