KUSHIDA SHRINE PRICES

Description

Kushida Shrine (Kushida Jingu) is a historic and significant Shinto shrine located in the heart of Fukuoka City, Japan. Established in the 8th century, it is one of the oldest and most important shrines in the region, dedicated to the deity Ohokuni-nushi, the god of agriculture, medicine, and business prosperity, as well as Futsunushi no Mikoto, the god of military valor. The shrine holds a central place in Fukuoka's spiritual life and is deeply tied to the city's history and cultural identity.

Kushida Shrine is perhaps most famous for its association with the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival, one of the most celebrated festivals in Japan. Held annually in July, the festival features large, colorful floats known as Yamakasa that are carried through the streets of Hakata in a spirited race. Kushida Shrine is the festival's focal point, and the shrine’s grounds serve as a place of preparation and blessing for the floats and participants. The festival has a deep connection to the shrine and is integral to the community's traditions.

The shrine itself is a tranquil and beautiful site, featuring a large torii gate, a spacious main hall (honden), and a sacred sugi tree believed to be hundreds of years old. The grounds are dotted with smaller shrines and statues, and visitors can enjoy a peaceful stroll around the temple complex, which is especially lovely during the spring and autumn seasons. There is also a sacred sacred tree, the Ginkgo tree, believed to bring good fortune.

Kushida Shrine plays a role not only as a religious site but also as a cultural and historical landmark in Fukuoka. The shrine is a place of worship, reflection, and celebration, attracting both locals and tourists who come to pay their respects, pray for good fortune, and experience the rich heritage of Fukuoka. Whether visiting during the festival or on a quiet day, Kushida Shrine offers a unique glimpse into the spiritual and cultural fabric of the region.
