Finnair will expand its Southern European network in summer 2025 with new scheduled flights to Catania, Florence, and Valencia, alongside Kos, which was previously operated as a charter service. The additions strengthened connectivity to Italy, Spain and Greece with services running between March and October 2026. The airline continues to target strong demand for leisure travel from Finland and Northern Europe.
Finnair has announced the expansion of its Southern European network for the 2026 summer season, introducing new destinations in Catania, Florence, and Valencia, as well as the Greek island of Kos, which will now be served with scheduled flights. Christine Rovelli, Chief Revenue Officer at Finnair, said: “Italy, Spain, and Greece are particularly popular with our Finnish and Northern European customers during the summer months. The new destinations complement our Southern European network, offering both beach holidays and culture, and the travel expenses extend from spring to autumn.”
From March to October 2026, Finnair will operate two weekly flights to Florence, one of Italy’s cultural hubs, and three weekly flights to Catania on the island of Sicily. Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city, will be served twice a week, aligning with two weekly departures to Kos, known for its beaches and Mediterranean atmosphere.
In addition to the new routes, Finnair will maintain its summer 2026 schedule across Southern Europe. In Italy, services are available in Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Verona, and Bologna. In Spain, the airline will continue to fly to Madrid, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma, and the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. In Greece, flights will also operate to Chania, Heraklion, Rhodes, and Santorini.
The summer 2026 season runs from March 29 to October 31. The new routes will launch on the following dates: Helsinki-Florence (2 April-18 October), Helsinki-Catania (31 March-21 October), Helsinki-Valencia (11 April -24 October), and Helsinki-Kos (2 May-24 October).
