Outletcity Metzingen, recognised as Europe’s largest outlet destination, is expanding its visitor offering with new culinary concepts, pop-up experiences and seasonal events. The latest additions aim to position the destination as more than a shopping hub by bringing together retail, food, lifestyle and entertainment experiences.
Metzingen, Germany: A major upcoming addition is 60 Seconds to Napoli, a fast-casual restaurant scheduled to open in October. The concept combines traditional Neapolitan pizza-making with modern technology, with pizzas baked in just 60 seconds in a 485°C oven. The restaurant will use dough that is rested for up to 72 hours, along with premium ingredients such as San Marzano DOP tomatoes and Fior di Latte mozzarella.
Janina Wittmann, Destination Marketing & Partnership Manager at Outletcity Metzingen, said the destination is focused on continuously developing its visitor experience and creating new reasons for travellers to stay longer. She also highlighted India as one of Outletcity Metzingen’s key international source markets and expressed interest in welcoming more Indian visitors.
The destination has also introduced CINNAMOOD, an exclusive pop-up concept that has been available since June. The Cologne-based lifestyle brand, established in 2022, offers 17 varieties of cinnamon rolls along with speciality coffees, matcha-based drinks and fresh fruit smoothies.
Seasonal retail experiences are also being added to the calendar. The Motel a Miio Sample Sale is scheduled from August 20 to 22 at The Gallery on Kanalstraße 6, featuring the Portuguese ceramics brand’s handcrafted and colourful collections at discounts of up to 80 per cent. Outletcity Metzingen is also set to host exclusive Michael Kors and MCM Sample Sales in September.
Through its expanding mix of dining, lifestyle and seasonal offerings, Outletcity Metzingen is seeking to encourage visitors to spend more time at the destination and combine premium shopping with food and experiential activities.
The strategy reflects a broader shift towards creating destination-based retail experiences, where shopping is complemented by hospitality, dining and limited-time events to increase visitor engagement and length of stay.
