Oman has introduced a new zero-fee 14-day tourist visa for nationals of selected countries, making short-term visits to the Sultanate easier for eligible travellers.
The new visa category was introduced through amendments to the executive regulations of Oman's Foreigners' Residence Law and came into effect following Royal Oman Police Decision No. 109/2026. The move is part of Oman's broader efforts to simplify entry procedures and strengthen its tourism sector.
Under the revised rules, eligible foreign nationals can obtain a 14-day tourist visa without paying a visa fee, subject to conditions prescribed by the Omani authorities. The visa fee has been fixed at zero Omani rials under the country's entry visa schedule.
Travellers who wish to stay longer may also be able to convert the 14-day visa into another tourist visa category before it expires, provided they meet the relevant requirements and pay the applicable fees.
Eligible Nationalities Yet to Be Announced
While the new visa has been officially introduced, Oman has not yet published the list of nationalities eligible for the free 14-day visa. Eligibility will be determined by the competent Omani authorities.
This means Indian travellers should not assume that the new zero-fee visa automatically applies to Indian passport holders. India's eligibility under the new category will depend on the official list released by Oman.
Oman already offers short-stay visa-free entry to nationals of more than 100 countries and regions under specific conditions. Travellers using the existing exemption generally need a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed return ticket, hotel reservation, health insurance and proof of sufficient funds.
The latest measure is expected to make Oman more accessible for short holidays and weekend-style trips while supporting the country's strategy to attract more international visitors and boost tourism activity.
