According to data announced by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Russians took first place.
The countries that sent the most tourists to Istanbul in the first six months of 2024 have been declared. Seven million 903 thousand 538 foreign visitors came to Istanbul in the first six months of 2023. The number of visitors increased by 8 per cent in the same period this year, reaching 8 million 562 thousand 167. The number of foreign visitors increased by 658 thousand 629 compared to last year.
In the last year, 1 million 627 thousand 57 foreign visitors visited the city in June, and 1 million 638 thousand 399 foreign tourists came in the same month this year. Thus, the number of foreign tourists in June increased by approximately 1 per cent compared to last year. Among foreign visitors who preferred Istanbul, Russians ranked first with 171 thousand 633 people. The USA followed Russia with 112966 tourists, Germany with 102 559 tourists, Iran with 96418 visitors, Saudi Arabia with 85448 people, England with 65,440 tourists, France with 48,331people Uzbekistan with 46,077 tourists, Iraq with 42649 visitors and Italy with 36766 visitors. Of those who visited Istanbul in June, 10.48 per cent were Russians, 6.89 per cent were Americans, 6.26 per cent were Germans, and 5.88 per cent were Iranians.
