Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has decided to relocate his training base from Potchefstroom, South Africa, to Antalya, Turkey, as he prepares to begin his athletics season with one of the Diamond League events in Doha or Rabat.
Neeraj will move to Gloria Sports Arena in Antalya in the first week of March for a 79-day training period.
He will stay there until the last week of May, accompanied by his coach, biomechanics expert Dr Klaus Bartonietz, and physio Ishaan Marwaha.
His proposal was approved at the 124th meeting of the Mission Olympics Cell (MOC) held on Thursday. Neeraj moved to North-west University in Potchefstroom on December 5 to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games. He will continue training there until February 29 before relocating to Europe.
In his last athletics season, Neeraj became the World Champion, defended his ASIAD title, and finished second at the Diamond League Finals.
