The events of marriage and MICE concluded in Kochi on August 16, where stakeholders in the industry called for a dedicated political structure to position Kerala as the country's most important destination in this rapidly growing sector. Organised by the Kerala Travel Mart Society and the Department of Tourism, the event highlighted strategic marketing, city-level promotion bureaus, and global participation as key priorities.
The wedding and the MICE ended with stakeholders in the Kochi industry. They encouraged the creation of a comprehensive political structure to establish Kerala as a significant national destination in this expansion sector. In his address at the Valedictory session, Kerala Tourism Director Sikha Surendran said that the participants had suggested the formation of a promotion committee for MICE in larger cities, starting with Kochi. He emphasised that a global marketing and communication strategy would be essential to showcase Kerala's key strengths, such as being an ideal destination for a wedding and a muse.
Positioning Kerala as a hub for wedding and MICE tourism, she said, would also strengthen the state's representation at international trade and business events. The three-day conclave, organised by the Kerala Travel Mart Society in association with the state's Department of Tourism, runs from August 14 to 16.
The closing session was chaired by KTM Society President Jose Pradeep and attended by past presidents and senior members of the society.
Surendram urged KTM to prepare a detailed report on the development with a concentrated roadmap to maintain the pace generated by the concert. "The government will certainly work with the big Takeaairs with the incident," he said, expressing optimism about its long-term impact.
He further stated that Kerala's opportunities in weddings and mouse tourism are not entirely associated with its natural landscape and cultural diversity, but also with the government initiative and participation in the active industry. KTM President Jose Pradeeep described the conclusion as a benchmark attitude event, given that it hosted 6623 commercial meetings. The program featured numerous interactions with the buyer sector and seminars led by international experts.
At the closing session, KTM Secretary S. Swaminathan presented mementoes to the organising teams, while Treasurer Jibran Asif delivered the vote of thanks. The gathering was invited by Mr Narendran, Assistant Director of the India Tourism. Other speakers included KTM past presidents EM Najeeb Abraham George and Baby Mathew Somatheeram alongside KTM Chief Executive Officer Rajkumar K, Vice Presidnet hari Kumar C and Joint Secretary Jobin Akkarakalam. With strong industry engagement, the conclave was regarded as a successful first step in strengthening Kerala's leadership in the wedding and MICE tourism sector.
