Moscow continues to gain attraction as a preferred business travel destination for Indian tourists, with increased visitors to MICE events. The city offers many personalised experiences, from historical venues to immersive cultural programmes. With a streamlined e-visa process, Moscow expects a prominent increase in business travellers from India, particularly in the MICE segment.
Moscow is rapidly establishing itself as a key destination for Indian business tourists, especially in the MICE sector.
With the number of business travellers expected to reach 8 million by 2030, a significant portion of this growth will likely come from India, reflecting the demand for business and leisure travel experiences.
The city's appeal lies in its world-class infrastructure for hosting large-scale business events and diverse cultural and leisure activities. From historic landmarks like the Kremlin and Red Square to cutting-edge theatres and vibrant nightlife, Moscow combines modernity and tradition. The city also offers over 150 unique venues, including historic mansions, museums, art galleries and open-air estates perfect for out-of-the-box MICE events. Business events are increasingly combined with cultural experiences, giving visitors a deeper understanding of Russia's rich heritage.
Moscow's hospitality is also tailored to meet the evolving expectations of modern business tourists. As noted by Maya Anurova, Head of the Business Tourism Development Department of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, personalised experiences have become central to business tourism. "Persnalsing the offer and creating unique formats is very important," she said, highlighting the shift in demand. India is now one of Moscow's top source markets for business tourism, with over 61,000 Indian visitors in 2024, an increase of 40 per cent from the previous year. The introduction of the e-visa process in August 2023 has further simplified travel for Indian tourists, making the city even more accessible.
As Sergei Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, emphasised, the city is committed to continuing its partnership with India to meet the growing demand for sustainable business tourism and ensure that every visit is enriching and productive.
