Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has successfully renewed its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)certification—this time under the newly introduced Risk-Based IOSA (RBI) framework. This marks the airline’s eleventh consecutive renewal of the audit, underscoring its commitment to maintaining high safety and operational standards.
The shift to the RBI framework represents a significant change in how airline audits are conducted. The RBI methodology makes the review process more predictive, data-driven, and tailored to the airline's operations than the conventional checklist approach by customising evaluations based on each airline's unique risk profile and performance data.
Organization management, aviation security, flight operations, flight dispatch, in-flight services, maintenance management, ground operations, and cargo operations were the eight key operational domains that were examined in Saudia's audit. Saudi Arabia's strong safety culture and operational controls are demonstrated by its successful completion of all these RBI requirements.
Captain Mohamed Dahduli, Vice President of Safety, Aviation Security & Quality at Saudia, said the renewed IOSA registration “reflects the strength of our safety culture and the robustness of our operational systems. It’s a proud moment that highlights the dedication of our teams and our ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding global aviation standards.”
Saudi Arabia has achieved this milestone under the new risk-based audit structure, demonstrating its leadership in aviation safety. As the airline navigates evolving regulations and industry standards, the renewal aligns with its overarching goals of expanding its global network and enhancing operational resilience.
