The appointment of Robin Mack as Tourism Australia's new Managing Director represents a significant leadership shift as the company gets ready for its next stage of expansion and international involvement.
Mack has almost 30 years of experience in the travel and tourism sector worldwide, including over 10 years as a leader in the Australian tourism sector. In his previous roles, he oversaw international market strategy, partnerships and commercial development across key regions and led Business Events Australia.
The Tourism Australia Board’s Chair, Penny Fowler AM, said Mack was selected following an extensive recruitment process. She highlighted his deep industry knowledge and ability to build sustainable international demand for Australia as a travel destination.
Mack takes the helm at a critical time for the visitor economy, with major global events on the horizon, including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and growing demand from key markets such as Asia.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Mack said he was “incredibly excited and proud” to lead Australia’s national tourism body. He noted that tourism plays a major role in Australia’s economy by generating visitor spending and jobs, and he looks forward to strengthening the country’s international appeal.
Industry observers say his leadership will focus on sustainable growth, strategic partnerships and expanding Australia’s presence in global travel markets, helping the nation capture a larger share of international visitors in the competitive tourism landscape.
