IndiGo is set to expand its Central Asian footprint with new direct flights from Mumbai to Almaty, Tashkent, and Tbilisi starting July 2025. The airline will operate four weekly flights to Almaty, Tashkent and Tbilisi. This step follows its first launch from Delhi in 2023 and aims to increase regional connections and international travel options.
IndiGo has declared new direct international flights from Mumbai to three Central Asian capitals: Almaty, Tashkent, and Tbilisi, furthering its efforts to expand international connectivity. Flights to Almaty will commence on July 1, followed by services to Tashkent on August 1 and Tbilisi on August 2, 2025. The airline plans to operate weekly flights to Almaty and Tashkent, as well as three flights to Tbilisi.
This development continues IndiGo’s 2023 expansion from Delhi to these same cities, aimed at strengthening its presence in underserved, growing aviation markets. Adding Mumbai routes is expected to offer passengers more direct options and tap into increasing demand for leisure, business, and VFR travel to Central Asia.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, said, “Building on the success of our Delhi-Central Asia routes, we are extremely pleased to announce direct flights to Almaty, Tashkent, and Tbilisi from Mumbai, reinforcing our commitment to connecting India to the world. These routes will enhance accessibility to these culturally rich destinations, fostering global connections and enriching tourism.”
Mumbai, known for its commercial and entertainment prominence, already connects to over 75 domestic and international destinations with more than 1300 weekly departures via IndiGo.
The three destinations hold strategic and cultural prominence. Almaty in Kazakhstan offers mountain escapes and a growing tourism appeal. Tashkent is a getaway to Uzbekistan’s heritage cities and a rising trade hub. Tbilisi in Georgia is fast becoming a focal point for tourism tech start-ups and wine experiences.
With this expansion, IndiGo is reinforcing its ambition to grow its international footprint beyond traditional markets and offer passengers efficient travel options to emerging global cities.
