Tourism was identified as a key driver of growth for the northeastern states. Plans are underway to create integrated tourist circuits highlighting the region's diverse landscapes, indigenous cultures, and eco-tourism potential. These circuits aim to provide travellers with unique experiences while generating local employment opportunities and supporting small, local businesses.
The task force agreed to adopt a collaborative approach, where states will work in coordination rather than in isolation. The vision is to position the northeast as a well-connected, sustainable tourism hub that makes a significant contribution to India's overall travel economy.
