Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and the chief ministers of six northeastern states convened in a high-level task group meeting. The agenda was to develop a comprehensive plan to enhance the region's transportation systems, increase tourism, and boost agricultural productivity.
Officials talked about how to improve links through air transport, railroads, roads, and canals. Connecting remote areas and border towns to important economic hubs was given special attention in order to foster trade and tourism. In order to guarantee sustainable regional development, the summit also emphasized the significance of digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and logistics assistance.
Tourism was identified as a key driver of growth for the northeastern states. Plans are underway to create integrated tourist circuits highlighting the region's diverse landscapes, indigenous cultures, and eco-tourism potential. These circuits aim to provide travellers with unique experiences while generating local employment opportunities and supporting small, local businesses.
The task force agreed to adopt a collaborative approach, where states will work in coordination rather than in isolation. The vision is to position the northeast as a well-connected, sustainable tourism hub that makes a significant contribution to India's overall travel economy.
