Saudi Arabia has clarified the regulations governing its newly introduced one-year multiple-entry Umrah visa, offering pilgrims greater flexibility to make repeated visits to the Kingdom while outlining specific requirements for each trip.
Introduced by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on July 20, 2026, the visa is valid for 365 days from the date of issue and permits multiple entries. However, pilgrims can stay in Saudi Arabia for a maximum cumulative period of 90 days during the visa’s validity.
Fresh service package required for every visit
Holding a valid multiple-entry Umrah visa does not automatically guarantee entry for subsequent trips. Pilgrims must purchase a new approved service package through the designated Nusuk platform for each visit.
They must also obtain a fresh Umrah permit through the Nusuk app, with the permit dates matching the approved service package. Travellers are required to meet all applicable entry and travel conditions before returning to the Kingdom.
The 90-day stay allowance is cumulative, meaning pilgrims cannot use 90 days for every individual visit. Saudi authorities will record entry and departure information to determine the number of days remaining under the visa.
Visa temporarily deactivated after departure
The Ministry has also clarified that the visa is deactivated when the holder leaves Saudi Arabia. It can be reactivated for a subsequent visit once the traveller fulfils the required conditions, including purchasing the relevant service package and obtaining the necessary permit.
Hajj 2027 entry restriction
A key restriction applies during the Hajj 2027 season. Even if a one-year Umrah visa remains within its 365-day validity period, it cannot be used to enter Saudi Arabia during the designated Hajj-season window.
The restriction will apply from 1 Dhu Al-Qi'dah to 13 Dhu Al-Hijjah. This means some visas issued during the latter half of 2026 could still technically be valid during the Hajj 2027 period but will not be activated for entry during the restricted window.
Hajj 2027 is expected to take place in May, although the exact dates will depend on the official determination of the Islamic calendar.
The new visa framework is intended to facilitate repeat Umrah journeys while ensuring that pilgrims comply with Saudi Arabia's entry, accommodation and pilgrimage-permit requirements for every visit.
