The Sri Lankan government has withdrawn the requirement for incoming tourists to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arrival. The change, announced by the country’s Department of Immigration and Emigration, means that visitors can now apply for visas under the same procedures that existed before October 15.
Under the previous policy, which took effect on October 15, tourists were required to secure an ETA in advance. With that rule now withdrawn, the more familiar visa issuance and entry process have been reinstated.
This development is expected to make travel to Sri Lanka simpler and more flexible, especially for tourists from key source countries such as India, which has been Sri Lanka’s largest inbound market in recent months.
Visitors and travel agents are advised to follow the standard visa application routes and stay tuned for any further updates from Sri Lankan immigration authorities.
