Thailand Emerges As A Popular Choice For Indian Couples Planning Photoshoot Holidays

Pickyourtrail reports a 10% year-on-year rise in searches for photoshoot-led holidays, with packages starting at INR 50,000 per person and Bengaluru leading bookings.

Indian couples are increasingly combining holidays with professional photography, driving interest in “pose-cations” — trips that bring sightseeing, leisure and photoshoots together to celebrate personal milestones.

Travel company Pickyourtrail has reported a 10% year-on-year increase in searches for holidays featuring photoshoots on its platform. In response to the growing interest, the company has introduced its Thailand Photoshoot Holiday packages, designed around occasions such as honeymoons, pre-wedding celebrations, anniversaries and babymoons.

The packages integrate professional couple photoshoots into holiday itineraries, allowing travellers to capture special moments against international backdrops while enjoying their destination.

According to Pickyourtrail, a pre-wedding or couple photoshoot in India can cost between INR 1.25 lakh and INR 1.5 lakh per couple when photography, travel and accommodation are included. Its Thailand packages start at INR 50,000 to INR 55,000 per person, translating to approximately INR 1 lakh to INR 1.1 lakh per couple, including a professional shoot.

The company estimates that travellers could save up to one-third compared with a domestic photoshoot arrangement, although the final cost depends on travel dates, itinerary and inclusions.

Honeymooners account for the largest share of bookings, followed by couples celebrating anniversaries. Babymoons and holidays planned primarily around creating photographs for social media are also contributing to the trend, according to the company.

Phuket features among the preferred destinations

Thailand has emerged as a key destination for pose-cations, offering a mix of beaches, islands, coastal landscapes and urban settings within a single trip.

In Phuket, Promthep Cape and Ao Sane Beach feature among the locations included in Pickyourtrail’s photoshoot packages. The company also offers itinerary combinations covering Bangkok and Pattaya, Bangkok and Phuket, and Phuket and Krabi.

These combinations allow couples to pair professional photography with sightseeing and leisure activities. The packages cater to four broad travel occasions: honeymoons, pre-wedding photoshoots, babymoons and photo-focused holidays.

Thailand’s accessibility from major Indian cities and its varied scenery further support its appeal for couples seeking international experiences without dedicating an entire trip exclusively to photography.

Bengaluru leads bookings

Bengaluru accounts for nearly one in four bookings for Pickyourtrail’s pose-cation offering, followed by Delhi and Chennai, according to the company. The booking pattern points to interest among travellers in major Indian cities who are looking to integrate personalised experiences into their holidays.

Hari Ganapathy, co-founder and chief executive officer of Pickyourtrail, said travellers are increasingly prioritising the experiences and memories they create during holidays, with photography becoming an integral part of the journey.

The company’s Sooper Hit Photoshoot Holiday offering seeks to combine these preferences by bringing destination experiences and professional photography into a single itinerary.

Thailand is the first destination in Pickyourtrail’s Photoshoot Holiday portfolio. The company plans to extend the concept to other destinations as demand develops.

The rise of pose-cations reflects a broader shift towards occasion-led and experience-driven travel, with operators packaging photography, accommodation and destination activities into customised itineraries. For travellers, the format offers a way to celebrate milestones while exploring new destinations, without arranging a photoshoot separately from their holiday.
