PADI To Host Inaugural Global AmbassaDiver Summit On Australia’s Great Barrier Reef

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has announced the launch of its first-ever Global AmbassaDiver Summit, bringing together renowned divers, ocean advocates, storytellers, and creators from across the globe on Australia’s iconic Great Barrier Reef later this year. The event will feature India’s adventurer and content creator Aakash Malhotra and celebrated DJ Shaan Singh as the country's representatives.

New Delhi: The summit will be hosted across Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland in collaboration with Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ), Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), Garmin, and Neuro. Participants will experience world-class diving, marine conservation initiatives, Indigenous cultural experiences, and sustainable tourism programmes designed to promote ocean stewardship.

The event marks two major milestones- PADI’s 60th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of Cairns, widely recognised as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. According to PADI Worldwide President and CEO Drew Richardson, the summit aims to inspire a new generation of explorers and environmental advocates by showcasing the transformative power of diving and the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

The Great Barrier Reef was selected as the host destination due to its ecological significance and leadership in marine conservation. The region is also home to the Wet Tropics Rainforest, making Tropical North Queensland the only destination where two UNESCO Natural World Heritage sites exist side by side.

Representing India, Aakash Malhotra and Shaan Singh are expected to spotlight the growing enthusiasm among Indian travellers for scuba diving and underwater exploration while encouraging greater awareness of ocean conservation. Singh said participating in the inaugural summit offers an opportunity to collaborate with global ocean advocates and inspire more people to contribute towards protecting marine life.

Throughout the summit, attendees will take part in liveaboard diving expeditions, educational sessions with Master Reef Guides, conservation projects, and leadership discussions focused on the future of diving and sustainable tourism. Wellness will also be a key theme, supported by Garmin’s dive technology and Neuro’s performance-focused initiatives, highlighting the growing connection between adventure travel, personal wellbeing, and environmental responsibility.

PADI said the AmbassaDiver Summit is expected to become an annual international platform, bringing together influential voices from the diving community to strengthen conservation efforts and promote responsible ocean tourism worldwide.
