New Delhi: AbhiBus, the bus ticketing platform owned by Ixigo, has introduced a first-of-its-kind Roadside Assistance programme to improve passenger safety and convenience during intercity bus journeys. The initiative is designed to support travellers whose bus experiences a mechanical breakdown en route.
Under the new service, passengers affected by a bus breakdown will receive an alternate cab within 45 minutes, allowing them to continue their journey with minimal disruption. AbhiBus will cover the full cost of replacement transportation, ensuring customers incur no additional expenses.
The launch comes as intercity bus travel continues to gain popularity across India, particularly among travellers from Tier II and Tier III cities. While bus operators maintain high operational standards, unexpected vehicle issues can occasionally interrupt journeys. Through this initiative, AbhiBus aims to eliminate one of the biggest concerns faced by bus passengers being stranded on highways due to unforeseen breakdowns.
Commenting on the launch, Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of AbhiBus, said the company remains committed to putting customer needs first. He noted that although the platform carefully partners with reliable bus operators and offers several safety-focused features, unexpected incidents can still occur. The new Roadside Assistance programme is intended to ensure that passengers receive timely support whenever such situations arise.
To promote the service, AbhiBus has also unveiled a new marketing campaign featuring renowned actor and choreographer Prabhu Deva. The campaign highlights the platform's commitment to delivering a safer and more dependable travel experience for bus passengers across the country.
The Roadside Assistance programme complements AbhiBus's existing customer-centric offerings, including refund protection, bus quality comparison features, and 360-degree bus visualisation, all of which are designed to help travellers make informed booking decisions and enjoy a smoother journey.
