MICE Centre In Jodhpur To Give Tourism A Boost In Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the starting amount of INR 25 crore to set up a MICE (Meeting Incentive Conference and Exhibition Centre) in Jodhpur.

It is becoming famous for organizing national and international events. A tourism department delegate said that the MICE centre will be built on 5650 square metres on the location of the Women Polytechnic College, where the Jodhpur Development Authority has allotted 65,000 sq mt.

In the first phase, amenities such as an exhibition hall, registration and information centre administration block, VIP lounge, meeting space and a parking area will be constructed and officially included.

MICE tourism is rapidly expanding in Rajasthan, which provides many opportunities in the tourism industry. In the 2023 to 24 Budget, Gehlot announced the development of MICE centres for international-level conventions and exhibitions in the famous hotspots of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Ajmer. Each of the centres will cost approximately INR 100 crore.

This year, the Tourism Development Fund's budget was increased from around INR 1000 crore to INR 1500 crore to boost tourism. According to officials, "Rajasthan is becoming one of the primary choices for MICE tourism operators."

In April, the state hosted the 12th Great Indian Travel Bazaar, with 283 tour operators from 56 nations participating. The same kind of event, the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart, took place this month, with contributions from around 200 sellers and an equal number of buyers. These events indicate that Rajasthan is well prepared to become a MICE tourism sector leader.

Rajasthan has all the ingredients for a flourishing tourism sector, including well-known tourist attractions, historical sites, distinctive heritage villages, and Shilpgrams experiential tourism, desert tourism, adventure tourism, wildlife getaway tourism, religious tourism, wedding tourism, wellness tourism, rural tourism, and film tourism.
