The Tourism Authority of Thailand has appointed Nattachit Oonsiam as the new Director of its Mumbai Office, responsible for spearheading destination marketing and strengthening trade and media partnerships across Western and Southern India, one of Thailand's most important source regions for inbound tourism. With close to 20 years of experience at TAT, Oonsiam has established a record in international marketing regional strategy and stakeholder engagement, Before his India posting, he served as Director of the ASEAN South Asia and South Pacific Marketing Division, where he oversaw tourism promotion across more than 10 markets, including India, Australia, and ASEAN nations.
Oonsiam began his career at TAT in 2007, initially serving as a secretary to the Governor before assuming roles in various global divisions. Their contact for different travel profiles and market dynamics equips him with deep insight into how Thailand can tailor its appeal to a wide range of viewers.
Speaking on his new role, Oonsiam said his focus will be on strengthening the cultural and emotional connections between Thailand and India through sustained collaboration with travel agents, media, airlines and influencers in Western and Southern India. He aims to present Thailand in innovative ways to both first-time and repeat visitors. The Mumbai Office will continue to promote Thailand across key states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, with an emphasis on destination diversification, digital outreach and growth of niche segments such as luxury, wellness, weddings, culinary and family travel.
Their appointments coincide with Thailand's ongoing efforts to attract high-quality Indian talent, facilitated by extended air connections, Bishop's experiences, and targeted engagement with both businesses and consumers. Indians are expected to be Thailand's top source market, with the management of Oonsiam to drive the next step in bilateral tourism development.
