Ethiopian Airlines has announced a new partnership with Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) to begin using ARC’s “Direct Connect” system for processing bookings under the industry’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) standard.
Under this agreement, Ethiopian Airlines becomes the first airline to integrate NDC transactions via ARC’s recently launched Transaction API. This system enables real-time transmission of booking and transaction data — a move that promises more flexibility, speed and transparency in how flights are sold and tickets are managed.
For travellers and travel agencies, the partnership unlocks richer content and more customisable travel options. Agents will now have access to up-to-date fares, bundled offerings, and real-time availability — facilitating better service and faster ticketing. Meanwhile, passengers may benefit from more personalised offers and smoother booking and post-booking support.
Ethiopian’s commercial leadership described the collaboration as a major milestone in their digital transformation journey — one that aligns with their goal of enhancing global connectivity while offering modern, customer-centric travel solutions.
This move by Ethiopian Airlines reflects a growing industry shift toward smarter and more transparent airline booking systems. As more airlines adopt NDC technology, Ethiopian’s approach could become a model for others to follow.
