A new travel report shows that in 2025, Japan and South Korea were the most popular international destinations for Indian travellers. According to The Great Indian Travel Index 2025 by ixigo, interest in these East Asian countries grew strongly, with Japan seeing about 63 % more demand and South Korea about 61 % more compared with the previous year. Other countries like Vietnam and Thailand also attracted more Indian visitors.
The report highlights that India’s travel scene in 2025 was dynamic overall, with major increases in flight searches, train bookings and bus travel as people explored both domestic and international destinations.
Alongside East Asia’s appeal, the study also noted that travellers are discovering offbeat and culturally rich locations, including Oman, Kenya and Kazakhstan, showing a broader appetite for new experiences beyond traditional vacation spots.
This trend reflects how global travel choices for Indians are expanding, with a mix of iconic cities, cultural experiences and emerging destinations influencing holiday planning in 2025.
