According to the Assam government, the park has welcomed 6,699 international tourists in the current 2025–26 season through December 27, marking a sharp increase compared to previous years and underscoring Kaziranga’s rising status as a major wildlife tourism hotspot.

The 127 % jump in foreign tourist arrivals over the past three years reflects the success of Assam’s focused efforts to promote Kaziranga internationally and improve its visitor experience, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on social media. He noted that enhanced conservation work, improved infrastructure, and strong promotion have all helped attract travellers from Europe, Russia, Germany, and other global markets.
Kaziranga — a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, elephants and diverse birdlife — continues to attract both wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers from across the world. The park has gained popularity among international visitors due to expanded safari options, enhanced amenities, and new tourism offerings, including birding, cycling, and boat cruises, according to officials.
In addition to foreign tourists, the total number of visitors to Kaziranga has also climbed significantly. Government data shows that the park welcomed more than 4.06 lakh visitors in the 2024–25 tourism year, including 17,693 foreign tourists — a fourfold increase in overall footfall over the past decade. This growth also boosted tourism revenue and local economic activity, with improvements to eco-friendly accommodations, better access roads and community-run facilities.
The increase in foreign tourists has strengthened Kaziranga’s image as a leading wildlife destination and supported Assam’s tourism industry. Officials expect visitor numbers to rise further in the next peak season, up to early 2026, helped by continued conservation work and better infrastructure.
