Zoomcar has reported that its hosts in India earned a collective INR 113 crore in 2024, with individual car owners typically making INR 25,000-30,000 per month. Sign-ups increased 61 per cent year-over-year, with notable growth in participation from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The company's latest Hosting Insights 2025 highlights how car sharing is evolving into a mainstream source of income and micro entrepreneurship.
Zoomcar Holdings India, the leading car-sharing marketplace, has released its Hosting Insights 2025 report, showing that car owners in India collectively earned INR 113 crore through the platform in 2024. With a community of 25,000 active hosts, the findings suggest that peer-to-peer car sharing is transitioning from experimental adoption to a sustainable income stream.
According to the data, a typical host earns between INR 25,000 and INR 30,000 each month, which is enough to offset the average INR 18,000 EMI on popular car models. New hosts usually secure their first booking within three to four days of listing, making idle vehicles a source of immediate revenue. As confidence builds, multi-car hosting is on the rise, with 12 per cent of hosts now managing more than one vehicle.
The platform has seen a 61% year-over-year increase in new host registrations. In 2025 alone, 3,755 new cars were added, with 21 per cent of these listings originating from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This trend reflects the spread of micro-entrepreneurship beyond metro areas, driven by a hosting energy, available as a side business. Trust remains central to the model, with 92% of shots reporting positive guest behaviour and an average guest rating of 4.5 out of 5. Each active host facilitates around 60 bookings annually with hosted cars collected, covering 173 million kilometres in 2024. Features such as Home Delivery can raise host earnings by approximately 25 per cent, tapping into demand for convenience.
"Cra hosting is building real economic opportunity fast," said Abhilash Kasliwal, Business Head, Zoomcar. With the quick allocation of the first bookings annually, hosted cars collectively covered 173 million kilometres in 2024. Features such as Home Delivery can raise host earnings by approximately 25 per cent, tapping into demand for convenience.
"Car hosting is building real economic opportunity fast," said Abhilasha Kasliwal, Business Head, Zoomcar. "With quick allocation for first booking, transparent trust system, and meaningful monthly earnings, thousands of Indians are offsetting EMIs and scaling into micro entrepreneurs. This is how we expand access to mobility and opportunity at the same time."
Zoomcar also highlights the sustainability impact of car sharing, noting that private vehicles remain unused around 90% of the time. By leveraging this idle capacity, the platform reduces the need for new vehicle ownership while generating household income. As peer-to-peer mobility matures, the company continues to invest in a host-driven ecosystem with safety, convenience and transparency at its core.
