Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, reported a record-high passenger count of 22.4 million travellers in 2025, marking one of the airline’s strongest performance years in recent history.
According to the airline, the strong passenger traffic numbers are a result of “recovery and growth across global markets,” as demand for travel has continued to move in the right direction since the pandemic. Etihad Airways’ expansion of its network, partnerships, and offerings has contributed to rising passenger traffic.
Etihad’s Chief Commercial Officer said that the airline observed an increase in demand for both leisure and business routes, especially to and from Europe, Asia, and North America. These regions played an important role in the overall increase in passengers in 2025.
To accommodate the growing passenger volume, Etihad has been upgrading its fleet and services with new aircraft and improved in-flight facilities, which are expected to enhance the overall customer experience. The airline has also extended codeshare agreements with other carriers.
The strong performance in 2025 positions Etihad well for further expansion in 2026 and beyond, with plans to expand its route network and strengthen its role as a major global carrier.
