The Mumbai Port Trust, IWAI, and IPA are collaborating on the waterway to surprise Mumbai on August 18, aiming to unlock India's potential for cruise tourism. Dignitaries and stakeholders will discuss best practices in policy and development strategies. The conference includes four Naviac Cell sessions, a panel discussion with industry leaders, and a presentation at India Maritime Week 2025.
According to a release from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, the program aims to assess the potential of cruise tourism in India and discuss political initiatives, best practices, and strategic development opportunities. The half-day conference will bring together dignitaries from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and various stakeholders in the cruise and maritime sectors.
The keynote address will be delivered by Vijaya Kumar, Chairman of IWAI, who also serves as the Nodal Officer of the NAVIC cell 4.
A panel discussion will feature key industry leaders and experts, including Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director, IPA; AK Bansal, Chief Engineer, IWAI; Opesh Sharma, Director, MOPSW; Vikas Malviya, Director, Nordic Cruiseline Private Limited; and representatives from Antara Cruises Heritage River Jouenys Private Limited, with other river cruise operators. Naval cells established by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways focus on promoting tourism through boat services, as well as Navic Sale, Ocean, River, and Lighthouse. It aims to develop India as a global centre for cruise tourism by developing integrated marine and river crap circles, as is further mentioned. The conference will also feature a dedicated session, a performance, and a session to showcase new reforms in cruise tourism and boat services. Under IWAI, GOT has played a crucial role in developing interior water transport systems, promoting river reforms, and implementing technically capable, permanent infrastructure in waterways.
IMW 2025 aims to highlight developments, investment opportunities, and international collaborations in the maritime detector to foster both domestic and global growth.
