Nearly 3.75 lakh passengers have travelled on the Vande Bharat Express between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar in the past six months, marking a significant milestone for the Jammu Railway Division in its first year of operations, officials said.
The premium train service was launched after the Udhampur‑Srinagar‑Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) was completed, providing the Kashmir Valley with all‑weather rail connectivity to the rest of India. The introduction of this high‑speed service has helped boost both passenger travel and regional accessibility.
Senior divisional officials noted that the division has built strong momentum in passenger services, freight movement and revenue generation in a short period.
They said infrastructure improvements — such as new stops and upgraded stations — and expanded cargo operations have also supported growth in travel and logistics.
The Vande Bharat trains between Katra and Srinagar have carried nearly 3.75 lakh passengers in the past six months. This shows strong demand for faster and more convenient rail travel in the region.
Officials said that freight services, emergency trains, and commercial activities like station advertising and parcel services have also helped improve the division’s overall performance.
The numbers demonstrate rapid adoption and stable growth of the Vande Bharat service in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting its role as an essential transport link for both tourism and regional connectivity.
