USA- New Nations Added To The Visa Bond Policy

25 new nations have been added by the Trump administration to the new and expensive visa policy bond, according to sources. The policy is effective from January 21st, 2026, for countries in Latin America, Africa, and South Asia. The policy bonds mounts to USD 15,000 for US entry. The policy aims to reduce visa overstays.

Venezuela is a part of the list of nations that will now abide by the costly visa policy for US entry. "Any citizen or national traveling on a passport issued by one ‌of these ‍countries who is found otherwise eligible for a B1/B2 visa must post a bond of USD 5000, USD 10000 or USD 15000, stated the State Department website, and that the amount shall be determined at the time of the interview of the applicant/traveler.

The State Department said that applicants must agree to the terms of the bond through the US Treasury Department’s online payment platform named Pay.gov.

The Government of the USA clearly stated that the bond is aimed at deterring visa overstays intended for business or tourism.

Human Rights groups have strongly condemned Trump’s immigration and travel policies, while the Trump administration responded, saying the policies will steer to better national security.
