Sharjah has recorded a 38 % rise in tourism in 2025, driven by strong global demand and focused efforts to attract visitors. India was one of the top five source markets for the emirate, playing a major role in this growth by sending a growing number of tourists, especially from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.
Tourism officials say Indian travellers are increasingly drawn to premium, culturally rich experiences in Sharjah, thereby strengthening the emirate’s appeal as a family-friendly, authentic travel destination.
Investments in sustainability and infrastructure initiatives, such as improved transportation routes and increased accessibility throughout the area, also contribute to the expansion. Sharjah's emphasis on modern facilities, eco-tourism, and heritage has expanded its appeal to tourists worldwide.
Looking ahead, officials expect continued expansion in 2026, with new hotel openings, sustainable tourism offerings and improved visitor experiences planned to meet evolving travel trends. Sharjah aims to further strengthen its position as a leading global tourism destination while welcoming more visitors from India and other key markets.
