With the end of 2024 Indian travellers eagerly prepare for their year-end holidays, with a mix of domestic and international destinations topping their wish lists. Booking.com, a leading digital travel company, has revealed the trending travel preferences of Indian travellers as they head into the year's final leg.
The Domestic travel has seen a prominent surge, with searches for Indian destinations rising by 40 to 100 per cent compared to last year. Major metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi remain popular, but there is also a notable shift towards offbeat destinations.
Tourists are increasingly drawn to cultural gems such as Udaipur and Jaipur hill stations like Manali, Munnar and Ooty and the coastal towns of Goa and Puducherry. Varanasi, a city known for its spiritual significance, has seen a 100 per cent increase in searches, indicating a growing interest in spiritual tourism. Among the top domestic destinations searched by Indian travellers between 21st December 2024 and 5th January 2025 are Puducherry, Udaipur, Jaipur and Goa, with Mahabaleshwar and Lonavala also making the list. These destinations offer diverse experiences, from serene beaches and cultural heritage to scenic hill stations and historic landmarks.
On the international front, traditional holiday destinations such as Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore remain highly popular, but emerging cultural hotspots are gaining traction; cities like Baku, Lapland, Danang and Tbilisi have seen a notable increase in searches, reflecting a growing demand for unique and culturally immersive travel experiences, Dubai Bangkok and Singapore continue to dominate the search list. Still, there is also increasing interest in locations like London, Kuala Lumpur and Phuket.
