A recent survey by Aquaterra Adventures reveals a growing preference among Indian adventure travellers for destinations such as Aconcagua, Mont Blanc, Kilimanjaro and the Dolomites. Domestic expeditions in Arunachal Pradesh remain popular; most respondents indicated a shift toward international, challenge-driven expeditions. The findings highlight evolving travel choices centred on cultural immersion, sustainability, and small-group journeys.
Indian adventure travellers are increasingly moving beyond conventional destinations to embrace more aspirational global experiences. A recent poll conducted by Aquaterra Adventures among 5,000 seasoned travellers indicated strong demand for international expeditions in 2025-206, with Aconcagua in South America, Mont Blanc in Europe, Kilimanjaro in Africa, the Dolomites in Italy, and routes such as Mendoza to Chamonix and Moshi to Zermatt emerging as the top preferences.
There are strong Indian interests in the Siang and Subansiri expeditions in Arunachal Pradesh. However, the broader teen suggests a marked preference for journeys that combine physical challenge with cultural depth, often set in Europe, South America, Africa, and Switzerland.
Unlike traditional family-oriented travel patterns, this segment is dominated by solo travellers, couples, and small groups who prioritise adventure and community over mainstream leisure itineraries. Conventional destinations such as Bangkok, Singapore, or Vietnam are now being replaced by more transformative global experiences. Vaibhav Kala, Founder of Aquaterra Adventures Pvt Ltd, said, "Our studies usually give us a pulse of the market and direction to plan our experiences. Our clients are our guides. This strong shift toward global transformative adventures has encouraged us to curate journeys that go beyond the ordinary and bring international experiences to our regular Indian adventures." A pursuit of more profound and meaningful experiences that extend beyond tourism. In today's adventure, travellers are looking for summits, challenges, and opportunities to connect with like-minded communities.
As the adventure in Indian tourism evolves, the focus is shifting firmly toward experiences that balance physical achievement, cultural engagement, and responsible travel.
