Etihad Airways reported its strongest-ever half-year performance with profit after tax rising 32 per cent to AED 1.1 billion and passenger numbers up 17 per cent to 10.2 million in H1 2025. Supported by fleet expansion and network growth, the carrier also surpassed 20 million passengers on a rolling 12-month basis, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for connectivity.
Etihad Airways has reported its best half-year results to date, delivering record profitability and passenger growth in the first six months of 2025. The airline said the performance reflects strong travel demand, efficiency gains and its strategy of expanding both fleet and network.
Profit after tax reached AED 1.1 billion, a 32% increase compared to H1 2024. Total revenue rose 16 per cent year on year to AED 13.5 billion, supported by a 16 per cent rise in passenger revenue and 9 per cent growth in cargo. EBITDA increased 24 per cent to AED 2.7 billion with margin improving to 20 per cent.
Etihad carried 10.2 million passengers in H1 2025, a 17% increase year-over-year, with the passenger load factor improving to 87%. The airline surpassed the milestone of 20 million passengers carried in a 12-month rolling period in July, marking a 100% increase from its 2022 levels. Capacity also expanded with Available Seat Kilometeres rising 14 per cent.
The fleet now exceeds 100 aircraft with additions including Etihad's sixth Airbus A350 and seventh A380, as well as five deliveries in July, the highest monthly intake in its history. These included the first A32ILR, which entered service on the Phuket route in August, featuring First Class suites and lie-flat Business Class seating.
Etihad now operates almost 90 destinations, having launched or announced 27 new routes in 2025. "With 27 new destinations launched or announced this year alone, Etihad is proud to help position Abu Dhabi as one of the most accessible and connected cities in the world," said His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of Etihad Airways.
Customer satisfaction indicators also strengthened, with a First-Class Net Promoter Score consistently at 80. Employee growth underpinned expansion, with over 1,700 new hires in H1 2025, alongside more than 1,100 internal promotions.
"We are proud to deliver a record half-year of Etihad," said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways. "Our strong financial performance and continued passenger growth demonstrate the success of our strategy and the dedication of our people. We are expanding sustainably, investing in premium experiences and bringing record numbers of visitors to Abu Dhabi."
